The son of a goldsmith, Luigi (1726–1785), Valadier was born in Rome in 1762. He also occasionally provided designs for silver, such as the 'York Chalice' for Henry Cardinal York (1800–01), the grand silver table service for Monsignor Antonio Odescalchi (1795–97) and the similar Rospigliosi-Pallavicini service, begun in 1803 which he partly produced in the silver workshop he. And the cartography team helped her make web maps for a map exhibit in the Vatican’s Casina Pio IV villa as part of the Vatican Art and Technology Council. Discover
The name “Casina dei Basiliani” come from the historic origin of the structure builded during three different ages.
In a first Basilian monastic settlement (VII/X century) a little rocky church was built. In this little church we can see some historic tracks in the sacred iconography built into particular niches. The little church fit with a second neoclassical house recognizable by his trappings and friezes in “pietra leccese” (a particular local rock). Meantime a particular room and a water hole of renaissance origin were built. Nowadays that room has become the restaurant room.
The entire has been recently renovated, and every building are identical to the historical counterpart. Our purpose is to recreate the same atmosphere that the old Lecce’s nobility lived during the quiet periods of september and october.
